Your body has the answers.
Movement helps you find them.
How does Movement Therapy work?
-
Movement Therapy is a hands-on, movement-led method which aims to recondition your body and re-educate your neuro-kinetic pathways. Once we learn to recognise when our movement is deviating from optimal, we regain power over how we move.
In your first session, we start with an in-depth conversation about your medical and movement history. We’ll assess how current and past injuries/experiences are affecting your body, and create a “body map” to guide our work together.
I’ll observe and use kinetic muscle testing to evaluate how your muscle groups are functioning, then we’ll discuss identified areas to work on, with your goals and priorities in mind.
-
Movement Therapy is for active people whose ability to move has been limited due to injury, surgery or growing and birthing children.
If you have needed physio or chiropractic care, your practitioner should sign you off to return to exercise ahead of starting Movement Therapy. The role of our sessions is to optimise and restore the full function of your body, as quickly as possible.
There will be homework exercises and my aim is that with each further session you have, we check in then safely challenge your movement, to keep your body improving.
What to expect
-
Each session is personalised to your body focuses on addressing imbalances using a mix of:
Mat-based exercises
Reformer Pilates exercises
Weights and props exercises
Hands-on release techniques and stretching
Rather than simply treating symptoms, we focus on understanding why — and correct those patterns for lasting change.
-
The number and frequency of sessions will be based on the complexity of your “body map” and the outcomes you are seeking.
Typically an initial course of 2-5 sessions will be recommended, then a follow-up session 3 months after these sessions complete.
Each 45-minute on-to-one session costs £75.
About Jenna
-
Hi, I’m Jenna Lamorna Wagstaffe, a BASI Global Comprehensive Certified Pilates instructor and 300 hour RYT yoga teacher. I have spent the last 10 years working with a diverse range of clients and needs, but have naturally gravitated towards whole-body rehab work that I have named ‘Movement Therapy’.
I’m passionate about helping my clients reconnect with their strength, so they can return to doing what they love — safely and sustainably. I’ve intentionally developed my skill set in movement assessment and corrective exercise, allowing me to evaluate how bodies move and why, identify imbalances, and retrain key muscle groups.
Before having my two beautiful boys, I created and owned Ouen Pilates, Jersey’s first reformer Pilates studio. I have specialist training in Pre & Post-Natal, Diastasis Recti, Spinal Conditions and Injuries, Kinetic Therapy, Fascia Release and Athletic Performance, and I’m excited to combine these techniques to help you!
